An Alaska Airlines Boeing 737-900ER landed with a partly open door to the front cargo hold at Portland International Airport (PDX)

The aircraft, registration N402AS, had just conducted Flight 1437 from Los Cabos International Airport (SJD), Mexico, on March 1, 2024.

Upon landing, it was discovered that the front cargo hold door of the aircraft was slightly open, as per a report by local KOIN News. Although Alaska Airlines did not confirm this, it was reported that live pets were being transported in the cargo area.

After discovering the open door, Alaska Airlines took the aircraft out of service for the remainder of the day. Mechanics inspected the plane, replaced a spring in the door handle, tested the door, and then returned the aircraft to service.

Alaska Airlines confirmed the incident in a statement, stating that the crew had no indication that the door was unsealed during the flight.
